…Promises To Revive Abandoned Projects, Attract Federal Development

The campaign for the 2027 Abia North Senatorial seat has begun to gather momentum as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Rt. Hon. Uko Ndukwe Nkole, commenced a wide-ranging consultation across Ohafia, Abiriba and Nkporo, receiving royal and spiritual blessings from traditional and religious leaders.

Nkole, a former member of the House of Representatives for Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, embarked on the consultation tour as part of efforts to engage key stakeholders and seek their support, prayers and guidance ahead of the 2027 general election.

The engagement brought him into direct contact with traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders and religious leaders, with discussions centred on effective representation, development, federal presence and the completion of abandoned government projects across Abia North.

At the Ohafia Traditional Rulers Council in Achichi Elu, Ohafia, Nkole was received by traditional rulers and political stakeholders, including NDC Abia State Chairman, Mr. Chidi Ukah; Hon. Chinedu Ijeoma; NDC Abia State Women’s Leader, Mrs. Nkechi Ikenga; and Ohafia LGA Party Chairman, Mr. Ete Udoh.

Addressing the traditional institution, Nkole said his aspiration to represent Abia North in the Senate was driven by the desire to provide effective and result-oriented representation.

He pointed to his record as a federal lawmaker, particularly projects and interventions facilitated during his tenure, which he said impacted communities across the 23 villages of Ohafia.

The former lawmaker promised to deploy his legislative experience to attract meaningful federal interventions to Abia North, while also pursuing the completion of projects that have been abandoned or are currently non-performing.

He maintained that public projects funded with taxpayers’ money should not be allowed to deteriorate, stressing the need to protect public investments by ensuring that viable projects are completed and put to use.

The Udumeze of Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, His Royal Paramountcy, Ezie Ohamaoha Elder Awa Orji Udonsi, and members of the Ohafia Traditional Rulers Council commended Nkole for consulting the traditional institution and identifying with the people.

The traditional ruler subsequently offered the candidate a royal blessing as he continued his consultation tour.

At Abiriba, Nkole was similarly received by the traditional rulers, where he presented his vision for Abia North and sought the support and prayers of the traditional institution.

He promised to make the interests of the people the central focus of his representation, with emphasis on development projects, stronger federal presence and tangible dividends of democracy.

Among the traditional rulers who received the candidate were HRM/Bar Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu, Enachionken of Abiriba; HRH Eze Benjamin Agu Effa of Agboji; HRH Eze Eme Uguru Ikpoka, Ukpaghari Amogudu; and Eze Otisu Ukiwo Alaoke Ihungwu.

They welcomed the consultation and offered Nkole their royal blessings ahead of the 2027 election.

The senatorial candidate also held discussions with members of the Abiriba/Nkporo community and other stakeholders before proceeding to Nkporo.

At Nkporo, Nkole was received by the Ezeaja of Nkporo Ancient Kingdom, HRM Ezeaja Jeff Kalu Otisi, alongside members of the Nkporo Autonomous Communities Traditional Rulers Council.

The Council was led by its Chairman, HRH Eze Dr. Agwu Nwankwo Kalu (LUNA), Aloke I of Agbaja Autonomous Community, with its Secretary, HRH Eze Innoce Mba, Okwe III of Etitiama Autonomous Community.

Other traditional rulers present included HRH Eze Otuu Irukwu, Afo I of Amafor Autonomous Community; HRH Eze Arunsi Nwankwo Uka, Agboha I of Agboha Autonomous Community; HRH Eze Dr. O. U. Oji, Ugah II of Ndi Nko Autonomous Community; and HRH Eze John Isiah, Ewaluochie II of Ukwa Autonomous Community.

Nkole told the traditional rulers that his political aspiration was fundamentally about service, development and effective representation.

He reiterated his commitment to attracting impactful projects and programmes to Abia North and ensuring that abandoned or stalled government projects are revisited and completed.

He noted that such projects represent significant public investments and should be preserved and delivered to the communities for which they were initiated.

The Ezeaja of Nkporo Ancient Kingdom and his Council of Eze Ogo, the Nkporo Autonomous Communities Traditional Rulers Council and the Nkporo & Abiriba Ministers and Church Leaders Conference subsequently offered Nkole royal and spiritual blessings.

The consultations across the three communities mark the first phase of a broader engagement programme through which the NDC candidate plans to interact with stakeholders across Abia North.

Nkole’s campaign message centres on leveraging legislative experience to strengthen federal presence, attract development projects, improve infrastructure and ensure greater accountability in the execution of government-funded projects.

As the 2027 political season gradually gathers momentum, the former federal lawmaker is positioning his experience in the National Assembly and previous interventions across the constituency as key components of his bid to secure the Abia North senatorial mandate.

The ongoing consultation is expected to take Nkole to more communities across the senatorial district as he continues to seek the support, prayers and confidence of the electorate ahead of the 2027 general election.
