Unity Bank Empowers Youth through Digital Literacy and Innovation

Unity Bank Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting youth empowerment and technological innovation, creating opportunities for Nigerian youths to thrive in the digital economy. The bank recently hosted a high-impact webinar, “Exploring the Role of Digital Technology in Sustainable Development,” to commemorate International Youth Week.

The event brought together participants from across Nigeria, featuring experts from the Telecommunications, Media, and Technology (TMT) ecosystem, including start-ups, fintech players, and content creators. Industry leaders, Mr. Gbolahan Salami and Mr. Micheal Ogundare, shared insights on leveraging digital technology to empower the next generation and foster inclusive growth.

Unity Bank’s Head of Strategy and Innovation, Mr. Ibukun Coker, emphasized the bank’s commitment to empowering youth through digital technology, citing initiatives like the Corpreneurship Challenge program and financing packages for Micro, Small, and Medium-sized businesses in technology.

The webinar provided an opportunity for participants to interact with speakers, leaving many feeling optimistic about their potential to leverage digital technology for personal and societal advancement.

This event follows Unity Bank’s partnership with SkillPaddy in the “Count Her In” tech program, which empowered 1,000 female beneficiaries in software engineering training. The bank sponsored 40 young girls in the initiative, bridging talent supply gaps and launching careers in the tech industry.

Through these efforts, Unity Bank demonstrates its dedication to driving digital inclusion, equipping young people with skills for the evolving economy, and supporting sustainable development in Nigeria.
