Kogi guber Election: KEEC Chairman Tasks Party Candidates, Govt. On Peaceful Election

Chairman of Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) has again charged party candidates, state government to adhere strictly to the Nigerian constitution and electoral laws to guarante free, fair and peaceful gubernatorial election scheduled for
November 11, 2023 in Kogi State.

Chairman of KEEC, Chief (Arch.) Gabriel Yakubu Aduku made the charge in Abuja, citing the danger of ongoing pre – election violence as a stumbling block to the desire growth and development of Kogi State.

The KEEC Chairman, Chief (Arch.) Gabriel Yakubu Aduku who doubled as the Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), the mouth peace of Northern Region and frontliner in the quests for sustainable peace, growth and development of the region said, no state in the region must be left behind in the collective search for Socio-ecoomic and political reforms that engeders competitive and bankable development of Northern Region and Nigeria at large.

He reiterated that Kogi State has come a long way and so should imbibe the culture of dialogue far and above any form of primodial ethnic and or art of stimulating violence in the quest for political power in our democratic setting.

Aduku said” the people of Kogi State are highly desirous in nothing but Good Governance and Peaceful co – existence, a prerequisite for the growth and development of the state”.

“Intimidation, thuggry, harrashment and violence in any form, from any quarter is detrimental to the dream of the founding fathers and desire of the people of Kogi State who are earger to catch up or set a pace for their pairs”.

It is this idea of peaceful election and good governance that informed this refered political Icon and elderstateman, Chief Aduku who has made a robust landmark successes and contributions to not only Kogi State but Nigeria, now the current Chairman of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), for his earlier call on Governor Yahaya Bello recently, to refrain from overheating the polity in the state.

The Chairman of (KEEF) and (ACF), Chief (Arch.) Gabriel Yakubu Aduku informed that Kogi State already blessed with abundant human and material resources, only needs to be focused and prioritised it’s policies, divorced from political intrigues and electorial violence to achieve faster economic growth.

As one of the Frontline founding fathers of modern Kogi State and Arewa Consultative Forum, Aduku segaciouly advised the political leadership in Kogi State led by Governor Yahaya Bello, to take charge and halt the ongoing pre – election violence and killings in the state and particularly in Kogi East, which otherwise, potends danger to the conduct of November 11, 2023 Governorship election.

It would be recalled that, the golden hair advice of the elderstateman on violence election however elicited vetuperations from the leadership of the state, through the state commissioner of Information, Kinsley Fanwo who rebuked and blackmailed the elderstateman, warning that the ACF leadership was out to fan an ember of ethnic crisis in the state and so, should stop meddling in the affairs of the state for which he is the Governor.

The ACF Chairman who is awaiting his inauguration on 25th July, 2023 as the 7th Chairman of the forum still warned that, any infractions or act of official insurbodination and contempt to constituted authority(s) and traditional institutions in Kogi State at this auspicious time, could be dangerous and spell doom in the count down to November 11th gubernatorial election in the state.
