A Youths group in the All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the New Generation Ambassadors (APC-NGA) has raised the alarm on plots by certain forces in government circle to tamper with the leadership selection process for the APC’s governorship candidates.
The Group warned it will not stand by and watch opportunists who found themselves around power manipulate the APC’s fair, just and democratic arrangement for selecting candidates in Niger State.
In a statement issued after an emergency meeting in Minna jointly signed by its Chairman, Aliyu Abdulkadir Kontagora and Secretary Mohammed S. Ndabida, the APC-NGA said it was aware of sinister plots by some group of government officials and friends of the administration to tinker with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s resolve to ensure fair play grounds for all aspirants.
The youths added, “We are aware of several clandestine meetings by this group self-appointed party strategists in Minna and in the federal capital, Abuja aimed at subverting the process by suppressing aspirants who refused to submit to their demands and blackmail.
“We are quite aware also that the ultimate goal of this gang of political merchants is to disrupt the existing democratic order with its guarantee for free participation and free choices to pave way for the imposition of unpopular elements as candidates for the party.
“We are also aware that this dubious group is concluding the deal on Tuesday in Abuja for the final mortgage of the APC as a party, the fate of Niger State and its people by selling the governorship ticket for the state to certain gangs with equally dubious political agenda.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we categorically state here that this unacceptable plot will be stiffly resisted and challenged with all our might,” the youths said.
