Muhammad Auwal Ibrahim, a multiple award-winning investigative journalist, creative writer, fellow AIJC20 and a reporter with Abuja Business Reports has been shortlisted for the maiden Nigeria Health Watch Solutions Journalism Fellowship, 2021.

Ibrahim was shortlisted out of over 200 applications received from across the African continent.

According to Chibuike Alagboso, Health Journalist at Nigeria Health Watch, Ibrahim made the list of the selected journalists for the fellowship. “We’re thrilled to inform you that your application has made it through to the next round!” the email read.

“Thank you for your interest in the Nigeria Health Watch Solution Journalism Fellowship and for taking the time to apply. We apologise for the delay in sending feedback. As I explained in an earlier email, this was partly because we wanted the first cohort of the fellowship to be completed. We also wanted to give all the 200+ applicants a fair chance by taking time to review each application.”

The announcement came after a thorough review of all the applications received by the organizers.

“It was a pleasure to review your individual applications and to read about your motivations and passion for telling stories that show how people are responding to various social problems.” he concluded.

This is not the first time he is making the shortlist of a Journalism Fellowship. Recall that in 2021 he was shortlisted for the global Climate Tracker’s COP26 Fellowship.

Not only that, he has won two fellowships, African Investigative Journalism Conference 2020 fellowship and West Africa Journalism for Change Network 2021 for being a runner up of West African Media Excellence Conference and Awards (WAMECA) 2021.

Ibrahim while speaking with this reporter prayed that may the Almighty Allah help him win this fellowship.
