Kebbi Customs Command Achieves Significant Milestones in Q3

The Nigeria Customs Service Area Command in Birnin-Kebbi, Kebbi State, has announced impressive results for the third quarter of 2024. The Command generated N36.2 million and seized illicit goods valued at over N323 million.

Revenue Generation and Anti-Smuggling Efforts

Comptroller Ernest Iheanacho Ojike attributed the Command’s success to its collaborative efforts with stakeholders, including educating them on customs procedures to prevent smuggling and increase revenue.

The Command’s anti-smuggling efforts, particularly the “Operation Whirlwind” team, have significantly reduced petroleum product smuggling in the state. The team’s seizures include:

  • 16,300 liters of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
  • 367 bales of secondhand clothing
  • 74 cartons of medicaments
  • 8 bags of foreign parboiled rice
    -180 pieces of donkey skin
  • 2 liters of Oxidized Nitric Acid
  • 1 unit of DAF truck and Toyota Corolla

Arrests and Prosecution

Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the seizures and granted administrative bail pending further investigation and trial.

Collaboration and Appreciation

Comptroller Ojike acknowledged the support of the media, sister agencies, and patriotic citizens in curbing smuggling activities. The Command will continue to work within the policy thrust of Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, focusing on consolidation, innovation, and collaboration.
