ALGON NEC Applauds the NPHCDA for the Support of Primary Healthcare Revitalization and Digitization across the 774 LGCs

The Executive Director National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA) Dr Muyi Aina, has been applauded for his commitment to the integration and engagement of the 774 Local Government Councils, in the implementation of Primary Healthcare service delivery in Nigeria.
Speaking during the 52nd ALGON National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the Zuma Hill Resort in Niger State on the 17th of July 2025, the ALGON National President Hon (Engr) Bello Lawan welcomed the continued strategic collaboration between the NPHCDA, SPHDA and the Local Government health service systems.
He on behalf of the ALGON NEC, applauded Dr Muyi Aina ED NPHCDA for his support and efforts towards the inclusion of the National President of ALGON as a Member of the BHCPF MOC, the 37 States ALGON Chairmen as Members the SOC and the 774 LGHAs as the implementation structure for the BHCPF 2.0 as stipulated in the National Health Act 2014.
The ALGON National President on behalf of ALGON NEC Members further acknowledged and appreciated the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare Prof Ali Pate for his leadership and strong support for the Local Government Councils, his approval of the BHCPF 2.0 Implementation Guidelines as well as his approval of the Joint Committee comprising of the NPHCDA, NGF, ALGON.
Development Partners and Civil Society Organizations, for the development of the Primary Healthcare Revitalization Implementation Framework and Roadmap.
Earlier during the technical session of the ALGON NEC meeting, ED NPHCDA Dr Muyi Aina thanked ALGON for the invitation to have an update engagement with the ALGON NEC Members representing the 774 LGC Chairmen and he requested for the opportunity to be at subsequent ALGON NEC meetings to give updates on the activities of the NPHCDA for better understanding and collaboration.
The ED NPHCDA, reiterated his commitment to ensuring a cordial relationship between the Federal and the Subnational Health Systems and that the Local Government Councils will be carried along in the implementation of the various Primary Healthcare intervention programs in the country.
The ED NPHCDA further reaffirmed the responsibility of the Local Government for the digitalization of Primary Healthcare Services across the 774 Local Government Council PHCs, stating that the Federal Government will be responsible for developing the Framework and Guidelines for Primary Healthcare Service digitalization while the Local Government Councils will develop and implement the digitalization activities in line with the guidelines.
The ALGON NEC as part of the Communique of the 52nd NEC meeting, approved the development and use of the Primary healthcare service digitalization system at all 774 Local Government Councils healthcare facilities, to address governance, financing, accountability, best practice service delivery and community engagement expectations through collaboration and support from the MDAs, Development Partners, Organized Private Sector and other Stakeholders.
The Communique also reemphasized the need for an enhanced strategic engagement with the Private Sector through best practice PPP programs and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) maximization for Primary Healthcare to achieve better health outcomes for all people especially the Poor and Vulnerable population in communities.
The ALGON NEC Communique further reiterated the capacity and capability of the 774 Local Government Councils to demonstrate leadership and accountability in the delivery of their constitutional mandate and ensure good governance at the Local Government 3rd Tier level of Government.
