The National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) has issued a strong warning to the public over what it described as “misleading and unauthorized” claims circulating on social media regarding the disbursement of payments to beneficiaries of its programmes.
In an official statement signed by the National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer, Associate Professor Badamasi Lawal, the agency debunked the viral posts, stating unequivocally that “this information is entirely false, deceptive, and should be disregarded in its entirety.”
According to NSIPA, the misinformation, which has been making rounds on Facebook and other unverified platforms, falsely suggests that payments to programme beneficiaries are currently underway. The agency stated, “NSIPA strongly condemns the spread of such misinformation, which not only misleads the public but also undermines the integrity of our programmes.”
The statement further cautioned Nigerians, especially programme beneficiaries and stakeholders, to be wary of unofficial sources of information. “We urge beneficiaries, stakeholders, and the general public to exercise caution and refrain from engaging with unofficial sources,” the agency said.
Clarifying its standard communication protocol, NSIPA emphasized that “NSIPA does not facilitate or announce payment disbursements via Facebook or any unofficial social media platforms.” The agency stressed that all legitimate announcements regarding payments and programme updates are made only through its “verified communication channels and the traditional media.”
To ensure that citizens are receiving accurate and timely information, NSIPA directed the public to follow its official social media handles:
- X (formerly Twitter): @ng_nsipa
- Instagram: @nsipa.nag
- Facebook: NSIPA NSIPA
The agency also reiterated its commitment to openness and service delivery, saying: “We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the continued delivery of impactful social investment initiatives across Nigeria.”
NSIPA concluded by encouraging the public to report any suspicious information and seek clarification directly from its verified platforms: “Should you have any doubts or require verification of any claims, please contact us directly through our official platforms.”
The agency thanked Nigerians for their “continued cooperation and vigilance,” urging them to remain alert against the spread of falsehoods.
