The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has entered a new chapter of leadership as Bayo Ojulari formally assumes the role of Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), taking over from his predecessor, Mele Kyari.
The change of leadership was marked during a brief but significant handover ceremony held at the NNPC Towers on Friday, where words of mutual respect and collaboration set the tone for the future.
In his address, Ojulari paid tribute to Kyari’s tenure, recognizing his exceptional contributions to NNPC Ltd. and the nation at large. “Your contributions to the growth of this company and your sterling service to our great nation are remarkable,” Ojulari said, emphasizing the foundation laid by Kyari as one he intends to build upon.
Outlining his vision, the new GCEO promised to consolidate on Kyari’s achievements while steering the company toward even greater heights. Acknowledging the challenges ahead, he stressed the importance of teamwork: “The targets set for my management are quite enormous, but I will be relying on the co-operation of the Management and staff of the company.”
Ojulari further highlighted the importance of mentorship and pledged to seek advice from his predecessor. “I will be counting on your support. I will need it. I will be coming around to seek your counsel,” he told Kyari, underscoring his commitment to fostering continuity.
In response, Kyari extended heartfelt congratulations to Ojulari and expressed gratitude to the NNPC team for their support during his time in office. “I am deeply thankful to the Management and staff of this great company who stood by me and made significant contributions during my tenure,” Kyari remarked. Pledging his unwavering support to the incoming leadership, he assured Ojulari, “I am only a call away,” reaffirming his readiness to assist the new administration whenever needed.
