Peter Gregory Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has empowered five young entrepreneurs in Kaduna State with undisclosed financial support to expand their businesses.
The beneficiaries were selected from participants who excelled at the Kaduna Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) exhibition, known as the SMES HUB Programme, organized by Hassan Adamu over the weekend at the historic powerhouse of Northern Nigeria.
Represented by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Obi was a special guest at the event, which was designed to highlight the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of Nigerian youths.
Among the five empowered entrepreneurs was Chef Ummu Kurthum of Qrusty’s Dishes & Pastries, who secured the first position. Second place went to Aminu Ahmed Nu’uman of Sufac Food Industry, while third place was awarded to Joel Tirom Muah, the founder of Pherobies & Perfumes.
Consolation prizes were given to Moses Ojo, the founder of MO Footwears & Appeals, and Hajara Jafar Muhammad of Gimbiya Integrated Firm.
Although Obi chose not to disclose the monetary value of the prizes, he commended the efforts of the participants for their resolve to be self-reliant and contribute to the economy without depending solely on government support. He also applauded the organizer, Hassan Adamu, for creating a valuable platform that brings out the best in young talents and engages them in productive ventures.
The participants expressed their gratitude for the support and encouragement, noting that the gesture was a significant boost to their entrepreneurial journey.
