The Enugu North Coalition for Good Governance Initiative (ENCGGI) has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to provide a clear and satisfactory explanation for the recent replacement of Dr. Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja as the Executive Director of Corporate Services for the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

Dr. Ugwuja, an esteemed indigene of Enugu North, was replaced in a move that has sparked significant concern and dismay within the Enugu North Senatorial District.

According to Comrade James Ezema, National Coordinator of the ENCGGI, “this decision is currently perceived as a continuation of the long-standing marginalization of our zone in terms of federal infrastructure and appointments.”

The Coalition emphasized that such actions undermine the principles of fairness and equity that are fundamental to the country’s unity and progress.

The ENCGGI has urged the Federal Government to address this issue promptly and transparently, ensuring that the people of Enugu North are given a sense of belonging. The coalition noted that Dr. Ugwuja’s removal and replacement from outside the zone perpetuates the historical neglect endured by the region.

In an appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the ENCGGI stated, “Enugu North is home to the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a beacon of academic excellence and national pride. It is imperative that the federal government recognizes and supports the development needs of this vital region.”

The coalition concluded by calling on the President to ensure that his administration does not overlook the legitimate interests of Enugu North, emphasizing the need to end the cycle of marginalization and foster an inclusive approach that values and uplifts every part of the country.
