Leading civil society and non-governmental organisations under the banner of the NAFESOJE Empowerment Foundation and the Alliance of National Civil Society Organizations (ANCSOs) have congratulated Mr. Peter Ogbonna Eze on his appointment as the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Commissioner representing Enugu State, describing the move as a win for merit, youth inclusion and national cohesion.

In a joint statement signed by the President of NAFESOJE Empowerment Foundation, Hon. Nnaemeka Aleke, and the Assistant National Secretary of ANCSOs, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, the organisations said the appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, reflects confidence in competence, integrity and proven service.

According to the groups, Mr. Eze’s elevation is not only a personal milestone but also a source of pride for Enugu State and young Nigerians who continue to show that disciplined preparation and consistent service remain pathways to national responsibility.

They noted that the President’s decision underscores a growing emphasis on engaging tested, globally exposed and intellectually grounded professionals to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic institutions at a critical time.

The statement highlighted Mr. Eze’s diverse professional background, describing him as an accomplished economist, public administrator, journalist, corporate executive and international business strategist who has distinguished himself across multiple sectors in Nigeria and internationally.

His academic training at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing, alongside numerous national and international recognitions, was described as evidence of a lifelong commitment to learning, service and leadership.

Beyond his academic and professional credentials, the organisations said Mr. Eze has demonstrated strong capacity in policy development, organisational management, strategic partnerships and public engagement, with experience spanning journalism, logistics, procurement, corporate governance, international trade and political administration.

They expressed confidence that this broad exposure uniquely positions him to add measurable value to the Federal Character Commission, especially at a time when fairness, equity, inclusion and national cohesion are central to Nigeria’s stability.

NAFESOJE and ANCSOs also commended Mr. Eze’s long-standing commitment to youth empowerment, institutional development and nation-building, noting that his trajectory serves as inspiration to young people across the country.

The appointment, they added, reinforces merit-based inclusion and generational balance in governance, while strengthening the FCC’s constitutional mandate to promote unity, equity and balanced representation in federal appointments and resource allocation.

The civil society bodies assured Mr. Eze of their moral support and collaboration as he assumes the role, expressing optimism that his tenure will contribute to institutional strengthening, national integration and inclusive governance.
