The Executive Chairman of Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State and Deputy National President of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. (Engr.) Ikenna Adikibe, has delivered a heartfelt goodwill message to the people of Imo State, spreading cheer, gratitude, and optimism as the Christmas season ushers in expectations for a New Year filled with promise.

In a statement released by his office, Adikibe, speaking in a tone that reflected love and happiness, extended his goodwill at Christmas and expressed his hope for a fantastic New Year to all Imolite brothers and sisters. He opened his message by appreciating the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, whom he praised for his visionary leadership and inclusive governance, noting that such leadership has positioned Imo State as a welcoming home for all its citizens.

The ALGON Deputy National President observed that the Governor’s service-delivery strategy has had a far-reaching impact, transforming Imo State into a reference point within the South-East. He emphasized that the administration’s approach has demonstrated genuine inclusion, reaching from the family level through wards to the local government system, thereby strengthening grassroots participation and development.

Recalling recent challenges, Adikibe reflected on the resilience of the Imo people in the face of difficulties posed by non-state actors. He noted that despite these trials, citizens have continued to place their trust in the Governor’s managerial experience, a confidence he said is now translating into renewed smiles and a sense of relief across the state during the festive period. Drawing inspiration from scripture, he reminded the people that “the light shines in the darkness,” encouraging them to allow that light to guide their steps into the New Year as the nation collectively looks toward 2026 with hope.

Projecting a vision of a brighter future, Adikibe expressed confidence that the synergy between the prayers of the faithful and the sustained efforts of Governor Uzodimma’s administration would lead to increased peace, progress, security, and abundant opportunities for all residents of Imo State. Speaking on behalf of the 27 local government areas that constitute ALGON in Imo State, he conveyed deep appreciation to the Governor, the State Executive Council, traditional rulers, and all well-meaning citizens who have consistently supported the administration. He reaffirmed ALGON’s commitment to partnership, stating that the association remains dedicated to working together with stakeholders for the betterment of the people.

The Deputy National President further stressed that the joy of the season should inspire a renewed commitment to service delivery, infrastructural development, and the overall welfare of every Imolite household. He called for a hitch-free celebration, appealing for festivities that are peaceful, safe, and filled with genuine merriment, without the disruptions that sometimes accompany such periods.

Adikibe also urged the faithful to sustain the spirit of prayer, expressing belief that divine grace will continue to strengthen the efforts of both the Tinubu administration at the national level and the Uzodimma leadership in Imo State. According to him, such spiritual support will result in tangible improvements in critical sectors, including health, education, and agriculture across the state.

In his closing remarks, Adikibe offered a hopeful proclamation to the people, encouraging them to exchange not only gifts and meals but also hope and determination. He prayed that the newborn King would bless homes, the state, and the nation, and expressed optimism that 2026 would mark the year when the fullness of God’s promises—prosperity, security, and the realization of a super-Nigeria—would be witnessed. He concluded by wishing all Imolites a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
