The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has applauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for his visionary leadership following the approval of a new minimum wage and salary increment for civil servants in Imo State.
ALGON Deputy National President, Hon. (Engr) Ikenna Adikibe, who is also the Executive Chairman of Oru West Local Government Area, described the Governor’s action as a landmark decision that would leave an indelible mark on the state’s governance.
He noted that the wage review, which raised the minimum wage from N76,000 to N104,000 and doubled doctors’ salaries from N215,000 to N503,000, reflects Uzodimma’s compassion and commitment to the welfare of his people.
Hon. Adikibe expressed profound gratitude to the Governor, urging civil servants and health workers to reciprocate the gesture by enhancing service delivery, boosting workplace productivity, and promoting accountability and transparency.
He emphasized that such collective effort is vital to building a strong and viable Imo that attracts industrialization, human capital growth, and overall economic prosperity.
The ALGON leader further praised Governor Uzodimma for translating his manifesto promises into tangible realities, saying the move empowers thousands of Imolites who have endured socio-economic challenges.
According to him, the Governor’s policies show a deep understanding of the state’s pressing needs and a sincere resolve to support its citizens.
Hon. Adikibe also expressed optimism that the wage increment would stimulate exponential productivity within the state workforce, strengthen the informal sector, and improve Imo’s GDP.
He assured that ALGON and the 27 Local Governments in the state are proud to align with what he described as a rare display of political will, pledging unflinching support for the Governor’s visionary initiatives.
