The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), under the leadership of National President Hon. Engr. Bello Lawal, extended heartfelt felicitations to Muslims nationwide as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan and the start of a new Islamic month.
Speaking on behalf of ALGON’s National Executive Council, Board of Trustees, management, and staff, Lawal acknowledged the spiritual renewal and resilience exhibited during the holy month.
In his statement, the ALGON President highlighted the economic hardships faced by many Nigerians, particularly in rural communities within Local Government Areas and Area Councils. He emphasized the struggles of poor farmers, the unemployed, and those impacted by challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and substance abuse.
“ALGON cannot ignore the stark realities of economic hardship endured by millions of Nigerians,” Lawal stated. “As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, we pray for Allah’s comfort, relief, and prosperity to reach the homes and hearts of our Muslim brothers and sisters.”
The ALGON President also underscored the organization’s commitment to advocating for good governance, sustainable development, and rural economic growth. Collaborating with other tiers of government, development partners, and relevant stakeholders, ALGON aims to promote innovative strategies to support rural governance, improve livelihoods, and enhance service delivery.
“As a collective, we stand in solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters, ensuring that their needs are addressed, and their voices are heard. May this joyous occasion usher in a new chapter of peace, happiness, and abundance,” Lawal concluded.
The statement ended with warm Eid Mubarak wishes, reflecting ALGON’s dedication to fostering unity and progress across all communities in Nigeria.
