The chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi, announced the results on Saturday night at the commission’s headquarters in Kano. He disclosed that of the six political parties that participated in the exercise, the NNPP secured all 44 local government chairmanship and 484 councillorship positions.
The elections, which were conducted peacefully across the state, saw a significant turnout of voters. Professor Malumfashi commended the electorate for their participation and the peaceful conduct of the elections.

The other political parties that participated in the elections included the African Alliance (AA), Accord Party (AP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), African Progressives Movement (APM), and the African Action Congress (AAC). Despite their efforts, none of these parties managed to secure any seats.

The party has been in power in the state for several years and has implemented various development projects aimed at improving the lives of the residents.
In his remarks, Professor Malumfashi expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, including security agencies, political parties, and civil society organizations, for their roles in ensuring a smooth electoral process. He also thanked the media for their coverage and the public for their cooperation.
The newly elected local government chairmen and councillors are expected to be sworn in within the week. They have pledged to work towards the development of their respective local government areas and to address the needs and concerns of their constituents.
This victory for the NNPP is expected to further strengthen the party’s position in Kano State and could have significant implications for future elections in the region.
The party’s leadership has expressed confidence in their ability to continue delivering on their promises and to maintain the trust and support of the people of Kano State.
As the NNPP celebrates this victory, the focus now shifts to the implementation of their policies and the delivery of services to the people.
The party has promised to prioritize infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment in their agenda for the local government areas.
The successful conduct of the elections and the overwhelming victory of the NNPP are seen as positive developments for democracy in Kano State. It is hoped that the new leadership will bring about the much-needed progress and development in the local government areas, thereby improving the quality of life for the residents.
Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had exercised their civic rights on Saturday during the local government area elections in the State, emphasising the importance of a transparent and peaceful process.
