A presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Chinedu Jideofo-Ogbuagu, has reacted to the call by Ohanaeze Ndigbo for “All-Igbo presidential candidates” in 2023.

In a statement on Sunday, the leader of the South-East APC Integrity Group, the promoters of the South-East APC Presidency Project 2023, frowned at the use of the “Igbo” in a push for the emergence of a President of Nigeria of South-East extraction as successor of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Ohanaeze should please stop talking about “Igbo” in respect of the push for shift of Nigerian presidential power to the South-East.

“Mentioning “Igbo” would cause confusion and crises among Ndigbo, such as Ndigbo of South-South and North-Central also contesting on the “Igbo” narrative, when Presidency is not zoned to ethnic nationality but to geopolitical zone.

The 2023 Presidential Aspirant on APC platform who tagged his campaign as “Jideofo 2023”, added that “With many political parties now in existence, the 1999 scenario of all-South-West candidates cannot be replicated in 2023 for South-East.

“An all-South-East candidates is not feasible in 2023”, Dr. Jideofo-Ogbuagu said.
