Women in Business and Politics Celebrates Badejo-Okusanya’s NBA Victory, Says Election Strengthens Women’s Leadership

ABUJA – Women in Business and Politics has described the election of Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, FCIArb (UK), as President-Elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) as a significant advancement for women’s leadership and a positive development for Nigeria’s legal and governance landscape.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Hassie Oyama, the organisation congratulated the senior legal practitioner on her historic victory, saying her emergence demonstrates the confidence of members of the Nigerian Bar Association in her capacity, professional competence and commitment to advancing the legal profession.

The group noted that Badejo-Okusanya’s election sends a strong message about the growing role of women in leadership across Nigeria’s professional institutions, adding that it reinforces the importance of merit, integrity and excellence in building stronger organisations.

According to the statement, the President-Elect, in her acceptance address, thanked members of the Association for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to build “A Bolder Bar That Works for Everyone.” She promised to lead with integrity, courage, humility, fairness and accountability while calling on members to embrace unity as the Association begins a new chapter.

Women in Business and Politics commended her inclusive vision, describing it as a leadership approach capable of strengthening confidence in the Nigerian Bar Association and promoting greater collaboration among legal practitioners.

The organisation said Badejo-Okusanya’s emergence is particularly inspiring for women in business, law, governance and entrepreneurship, as it demonstrates that competence, resilience and visionary leadership remain essential ingredients for attaining positions of influence.

It further stated that increasing women’s participation in leadership across professional and public institutions contributes to stronger governance, institutional development and sustainable national progress.
