Dr. Raphael James, the visionary Director General and Founder of the Centre for Research, Information and Media Development (CRIMMD), has called for a transformative step to bridge the gap between the Nigerian Constitution and its citizens.

Speaking during an in-depth 45-minute interview on “Close Flow” and the NTA 2 Channel 5 program on Monday, March 10, 2025, Dr. James urged the National Assembly to enact a bill facilitating the translation of the Constitution into various native languages.

Dr. James, who manages the pioneering private Museum of Nigerian History housing over 45,000 historical photographs and countless artifacts, emphasized that many Nigerians possess literacy in their native tongues but struggle with English, the country’s official language.

Highlighting the inequity, he argued that every Nigerian deserves the opportunity to fully understand their constitutional rights, regardless of their linguistic background.

A widely respected historian and educational advocate, Dr. James has visited 35 of Nigeria’s 36 states, meticulously documenting over 610 tourist sites.

He is also the publisher of African Dame and The National Biographer magazines, an author with 23 published works, and a philanthropist who has donated over 70,000 books to schools across Nigeria as of February 2025.

Additionally, he has operated a free public library for two decades, boasting a collection of over 45,000 books.

Dr. James’s lifelong dedication to education and historical preservation has earned him 290 awards, cementing his legacy as a champion for knowledge accessibility.

His call to action for constitutional translation is yet another stride in his tireless efforts to empower Nigerians through inclusivity and education.
