The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has sounded a clear warning to insecurity forces plaguing Nigeria, particularly in the North-West region. During a visit to the Headquarters 213 Forward Operating Base in Katsina State, Abubakar charged the Nigerian Air Force to dominate the airspace and eradicate insecurity.

“We are deploying additional platforms to enhance your capabilities and eliminate bandits and terrorists,” the Minister emphasized. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to ending insecurity was reaffirmed, with Abubakar stating, “Mr. President is pleased with your progress and will provide necessary equipment and support your welfare.”Defence Minister Badaru Abubakar

In a stern directive, Abubakar urged the troops to “End it now, please. End insecurity now.”

The Minister commended the troops for their renewed vigour, citing significant progress made in the last few months. “I have seen you, you are all charged. And the progress we are recording so far indicates that you have the capacity and the will to end it.”

Abubakar also acknowledged the critical role of state governments in combating insecurity. The states of Zamfara and Katsina have been cooperating fully, with a recent meeting between governors, the National Security Adviser, and federal officials aimed at strategizing an end to insecurity in the region.

As Nigeria grapples with escalating security challenges, the Defence Minister’s directive signals a renewed commitment to tackling banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism head-on. With the Nigerian Air Force poised to dominate the airspace, hopes are high that insecurity will soon be a thing of the past.
