The Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has condemned the seizure of three Presidential Jets by a French Court, describing it as an international embarrassment.

Obi expressed his disappointment on his social media handle, criticizing the secrecy surrounding the purchase and sale of the jets, which he believes belongs to the Nigerian people.

Obi, a former Governor of Anambra State, argued that the federal government’s decision to purchase a Presidential jet despite widespread criticism and economic hardship shows insensitivity to the plight of the poor.

He also questioned the lack of transparency in the dealings, stating that Nigerians were unaware of the purchase and sale of the jets until a French court prohibited their movement or sale.

The former Presidential candidate demanded accountability from the government, asking for a full explanation of the circumstances leading to the seizure of the jets.

He also raised questions about the agreement between the Ogun state government and a Chinese firm, as well as the actions taken by both the Ogun state and federal governments following a UK court ruling.

Obi emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in government dealings, particularly in relation to federal government property.

He challenged the federal government to come clean and provide Nigerians with a clear explanation of the events leading to the international embarrassment.

This incident has sparked widespread concern and criticism, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability in government dealings.

As Nigeria continues to face economic challenges and a growing poverty crisis, the seizure of the Presidential Jets has brought to light the need for responsible leadership and respect for the rule of law.
