Nigeria’s political, business and civic elite converged on Thursday night at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Abuja as Accolade Dynamics Limited hosted the 6th edition of the Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards, celebrating excellence, leadership and service across multiple sectors.

The glamorous event, held on May 8, 2026, turned the nation’s capital into a hub of celebration as distinguished personalities from government, business, philanthropy and civil society gathered in striking yellow-themed attire to honour individuals and organisations making significant contributions to national development.

Among the high-profile dignitaries present were governors from Benue State, Enugu State and Cross River State, alongside the First Ladies of Enugu and Cross River States. Federal Government officials at the event included the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure.

Also in attendance were the Secretary to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Rose Anthony Oriaran; Managing Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company, Jennifer Adighije; former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam; and prominent business leaders including Nkoli Imo, Johnbosco Onunkwo and export consultant Nduka Udeh.

Other notable guests included the De Imperial Philanthropic Family led by Darlington Nwabunike, hospitality entrepreneur Onyiyen Ajoku, Chairman of the Nigeria Council of the Legion, Morenike Grace Henry, Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, Adaora Umeoji, and the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress, Ben Nwoye, alongside serving senators and members of the House of Representatives.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Accolade Dynamics Limited, Doofan Chizaram Tor, described the awards as a platform dedicated to celebrating excellence while beneficiaries are still alive.

“Tonight is a day of recognising excellence across different spheres, including entrepreneurship, technology, philanthropy and humanitarianism. We are here to recognise those that have been nominated and voted in by the public through Accolade Dynamics Limited,” she said.

According to her, the sixth edition introduced a public voting system designed to give Nigerians a direct voice in determining award recipients.

“We ensured that this year we did a public voting system. This allowed the public to actually vote in who they believe is worthy of the award. So, it is not just an Accolade-decided thing; this is a public-decided process,” she stated.

Tor noted that recognising achievements across sectors sends a strong message that success and impact are attainable regardless of one’s background.

“The biggest thing for me in recognising excellence and doing it in different spheres — not just politics — is showing that anyone from any sphere can actually make it to this point. We have people from the grassroots who were able to build their own companies, and people who rose through the ranks in politics,” she said.

She further stressed that the initiative was designed not only to honour accomplishments but also to encourage corporate social responsibility, mentorship and youth empowerment.

“We actually want the legends of today to instil those talents into the next generation so that they can become the next faces and leaders that we are going to see coming forward,” she added.

Addressing Nigeria’s younger generation, particularly Millennials and Generation Z, the Accolade Dynamics CEO urged them to harness their technological strengths and build on the achievements of previous generations.

“This generation is technologically savvy, so they have different strengths. I want to say to them that yes, you may have weaknesses, but you can always rise to the forefront and become even better than the previous generation. Learn from what others have built and build even higher so that Nigeria can continue to grow,” she said.

Co-Chairman of the event, Ginika Tor, said the organisation had built credibility over the years by consistently identifying and celebrating individuals making remarkable contributions within Nigeria and beyond.

He reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to improving its recognition process and spotlighting personalities driving meaningful social and economic change.

Delivering the keynote address titled “Leading for Impact: The Power of Recognition,” renowned leadership coach and public speaker Linus Okorie described recognition as a powerful leadership tool capable of transforming institutions and motivating excellence.

According to him, “When people are seen for behaviours that drive real results, they repeat those behaviours, take more initiative and stay engaged. Recognition clarifies priorities and shapes organisational culture faster than policies or incentives because it links effort directly to impact.”

The event blended elegance with substance, as guests celebrated achievements in entrepreneurship, governance, humanitarian service and innovation while networking with some of the country’s most influential personalities.

In his vote of thanks, Chairman Henry Tor expressed appreciation to guests and honourees for supporting the initiative and disclosed that preparations had already commenced for the seventh edition of the awards, which he promised would be bigger and more impactful.

By the end of the night, the 6th Accolade Yellow Ball and Awards had further cemented its reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading platforms for celebrating excellence, inspiring leadership and promoting service to humanity.
