The Kwara State Government has completed the procurement and installation of modern radiology equipment at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), leading to the full restoration of radiological services following months of upgrades and refurbishment.

The development is part of sustained efforts by the state government to strengthen healthcare delivery and enhance diagnostic capacity within public health institutions.

With the installation and testing of the new equipment successfully concluded, the Radiology Department has resumed full operations, enabling patients to access critical imaging services directly within the hospital.

The Chief Medical Director of KWASUTH, Dr. Bola Ahmed, described the restoration as a significant milestone for both the hospital and the state’s healthcare system, noting that the previous lack of functional and advanced radiology equipment had posed serious challenges to accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.

According to him, the completion of installation and technical testing, alongside the availability of trained personnel, has positioned the department to operate at full capacity.

Dr. Ahmed explained that the upgrade would ease the burden on patients who had been forced to rely on private diagnostic centres or travel outside Kwara State for radiological investigations.

Patients and residents have expressed satisfaction with the reopening of the department, describing it as timely and critical to improving healthcare delivery. Many noted that the restored services are expected to reduce waiting times, improve diagnostic accuracy, and enhance overall patient care at KWASUTH.

Reaffirming the commitment of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Dr. Ahmed stated that the state government remains dedicated to continuous investment in medical equipment, hospital infrastructure, and manpower development to expand access to quality healthcare across Kwara State.
