In a landmark event at Barcelona Hotel, Abuja, on Friday, August 8, 2025, the Rotary Club of Abuja Sapphire formally installed Rotarian Dr. Pat Ifeanyi Oramah as its 8th President, ushering in a new era of visionary leadership, humanitarian commitment, and renewed focus on tackling Nigeria’s urgent health challenges. The occasion drew distinguished guests, Rotarians, and community leaders, marking a vibrant celebration of service and impact.
Dr. Oramah, a seasoned consultant, philanthropist, and CEO of Sepat Pharmaceuticals Ltd, accepted the presidency with a pledge to make his tenure a period of measurable transformation. “With deep humility and gratitude, I accept the honor of serving as the 8th President of Rotary Sapphire Club, Abuja Chapter. Our goal is clear—to leave a legacy of impact,” he declared. Central to his administration’s agenda will be a national campaign to eliminate Hepatitis C, which he described as a “silent killer” that is preventable, curable, yet underdiagnosed. He also announced plans to partner with international pharmaceutical organizations to expand diabetes sensitization, free testing, and treatment, while reinforcing Rotary’s unwavering global campaign for polio eradication. “We will continue to drive advocacy, awareness, and vaccination efforts until the very last case is gone,” he vowed.

District 9127 Governor, Dame (Dr) Princess Joy Nky Okoro, delivered an unscripted and passionate address, drawing on her grassroots experiences. She recounted visiting a youth camp in Orozo earlier that day, where over 400 children from across Nigeria gathered for the “Morning Light” program, commending the organizers for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all participants. Turning to health issues, she underscored Rotary’s unrelenting fight against polio, reminding attendees that although Nigeria has been polio-free for five years, Afghanistan and one other country remain endemic. She also warned about the dangers of diabetes, calling it “another sudden killer” with severe complications. Her message was a rallying cry: “Rotarians are caregivers. Either you join us in this fight as children or you join us as friends—to make sure we accomplish this task we all have.”
Immediate Past President Rotarian Barr. Obiananma Anne Onwukeme reflected proudly on a year of accomplishments, announcing that all 22 goals set for her administration were achieved, earning the club the Rotary International Club Excellence Award. Key projects during her tenure included maternal and child health outreach in Dutse Alhaji, school supplies and tuition support for indigent students in Damangaza, solar street light installations at the Emeka Offor Rotary Centre, the “Pad a Girl-Child” initiative empowering 400 girls to make reusable sanitary pads, and extensive polio awareness and vaccination drives in collaboration with the District Polio Plus Committee.
As chair of the Investiture Committee, Onwukeme warmly welcomed guests, expressing confidence in Dr. Oramah’s ability to lead with impact. She emphasized Rotary’s global mission of mobilizing time, talent, and treasure to confront pressing humanitarian challenges, in alignment with this year’s Rotary International theme, “Unite for God,” which resonated throughout the ceremony.
The evening also celebrated champions of humanity with the presentation of Distinguished Service Awards to notable figures including Sir (Dr) Mike Mbama Okiro, CFR, former Inspector-General of Police; Prof. Benedict Okey Oramah, CON, President of Afrieximbank; Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, Governor of Imo State; Korede Adeyemi, CEO of EdgePlus Capital Limited; Stanley Chiedoziem Amuchie, COO of Fidelity Bank; Dr. Nosa Ernest Orumwense, Regional Head of Fidelity Bank; and Rotarian Barr. Obiananma Anne Onwukeme, Immediate Past President and Principal Partner of Viventi Solicitors.
Beyond his Rotary commitments, Dr. Oramah is also the founder of Diabetes and Hepatitis Care Services, Director-General of Progressive Friends Foundation, publisher of IMPACT magazine, and Chairman of Oramah Football Club and Academy. A certified management consultant and philanthropist, he brings extensive expertise and a deep sense of social responsibility to his new role.
With his installation, the Rotary Club of Abuja Sapphire embarks on a new chapter defined by bold vision, targeted health interventions, and an enduring commitment to service, promising to leave a lasting legacy in Nigeria and beyond.
