In a significant move aimed at bolstering investment and innovation within Africa’s oil and gas industry, Western Development Company Nigeria Ltd. (WDCL) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the continent’s energy landscape. This announcement was made during the ongoing Nigerian Oil and Gas Week held in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Chief Operating Officer of WDCL, Obinna Okoroigwe, emphasized the company’s long-standing dedication to providing services across Africa’s energy sector. “We are here today exhibiting alongside our partners from India, Rolon Seals, at Nigerian Oil and Gas Week,” Okoroigwe stated.
Highlighting WDCL’s track record, he noted, “Western Development Company Limited (WDCL) is an indigenous company offering services to local and international oil and gas companies for over 25 years. Our services include procurement, engineering, and construction in mechanical, electrical, civil, and instrumentation disciplines for both onshore and offshore brownfield and greenfield projects. We also offer procurement and installation services for Information Technology and Telecommunication projects.”
Okoroigwe further revealed WDCL’s strategic expansion plans, saying, “We are working to extend our operations to include oil drilling, completion, and well maintenance services, as well as provision of badges, tug boats, personnel carriers, security vessels, and more. Additionally, we are focusing on expanding our business to the shallow and deep offshore sectors.”
Echoing this commitment, WDCL’s General Manager of Operations, Onilede Solomon, remarked on the company’s long-standing presence in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry. “WDCL has spent close to 30 years providing services for IOCs, NNPC, and all the major players. Our services span IT, mechanical, electrical, marine, and marine security sectors. Our presence is significant with companies like Shell, Chevron, Mobil, NNPC, and other local producers,” Solomon said.
He also highlighted the company’s collaboration with its technical partner, Rolon Seals. “One of the key products we introduced this year is mechanical seals. These products are widely used in the country and have been adopted by major players like Dangote Refinery. They have proven to be more economical, durable, and provide excellent value,” Solomon added.
Solomon underscored WDCL’s reputation for delivering consistent quality. “In the oil and gas sector, Western Development is thriving by consistently delivering high-quality services. We have ongoing projects running for the past 10 years, maintaining excellent service standards in the oil and gas industry,” he said.
On his part, Jonathan Praveen, an expert manager at Rolon Seals, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership. “Rolon Seals is a mechanical seal company with 25-26 years of experience. We are partnering with Western Development Company here in Nigeria. We are glad to be part of this exhibition. Our goal is to showcase our capabilities and credentials to explore business opportunities in Nigeria and across Africa,” he said.
Praveen emphasized the company’s commitment to efficient service delivery. “Our motto is to provide the fastest and most reliable service and supply of mechanical seals. These products are common and essential in many industries. When it comes to faster service and reliable support, Rolon Seals definitely stands first,” he concluded.
