The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to excellence in military healthcare delivery and training infrastructure, as part of a broader strategy to enhance the welfare and operational capacity of Nigeria’s Armed Forces.
Ambassador Aduda made this known during an official inspection tour in Kaduna, where he assessed key military facilities aimed at bolstering both medical support and tactical readiness among personnel.
One of the highlights of the visit was the unveiling of a newly completed 100-bed Medical Interns Accommodation Facility at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (NARH), a state-of-the-art complex designed to provide comfort, dignity, and sustainability for young medical professionals serving in the military.
The residential complex features en-suite rooms, modern common areas, recreational lounges, and an alternative solar power system—marking a significant milestone in the Ministry’s efforts to create a conducive environment for healthcare workers.
Speaking after the tour, Ambassador Aduda expressed satisfaction with the project, noting that such infrastructure is pivotal to improving healthcare outcomes within the Armed Forces.
“By investing in quality living conditions, we empower our interns to focus on their responsibilities without distraction,” he said. “This not only enhances their performance and morale but ultimately ensures better care for our gallant men and women in uniform.”
He also emphasized the importance of sustainable infrastructure, particularly uninterrupted power supply and shared community spaces, in ensuring a safe and efficient residential experience for medical personnel.
In a related engagement, the Permanent Secretary visited the Special Operations Forces Training Ground at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Camp Kabala. Accompanied by Camp Commandant, Major General FS Etim, Ambassador Aduda inspected training exercises and facilities, commending the professionalism, discipline, and combat preparedness of the troops.
He lauded the training regimen at the camp, describing it as a model for the Armed Forces’ readiness to tackle emerging security threats. “Our military personnel deserve the best possible training environment, and the Ministry remains committed to providing the tools and infrastructure necessary to meet that standard,” he remarked.
Joining the Permanent Secretary on the tour were Dr. Sunday Attah, Director of Army Affairs at the Ministry of Defence; Brigadier General GS Ogoh, Director of Medical Services at the 44 NARH; and other senior officials.
These visits, according to Aduda, form part of a wider initiative to elevate the Armed Forces through consistent investment in both physical infrastructure and human capital.
“The Ministry’s vision is clear: we must build a military that is not only operationally effective but also supported by world-class healthcare and training systems,” he said.
The developments in Kaduna reflect the Defence Ministry’s ongoing resolve to align Nigeria’s military capabilities with global standards, while ensuring the dignity and welfare of those who serve the nation.
