The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has made its ruling regarding the disrupted Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Libya and Nigeria, initially scheduled for October 15, 2024.

Following Libya’s breach of multiple regulations, the match has been forfeited in Nigeria’s favor, resulting in a 3-0 victory for Nigeria. Additionally, the Libya Football Federation has been fined $50,000, payable within 60 days.

This decision significantly impacts the Group D standings, with Nigeria maintaining its lead with 10 points, followed by Benin with six points, and Libya at the bottom with one point.

Nigeria’s team captain, William Troost-Ekong, justified the team’s boycott, emphasizing the importance of respect and prioritizing player safety and well-being.
