NGIJ Inaugurates New Leadership, Pledges to Advance Investigative Journalism

In a landmark virtual ceremony, the Nigerian Guild of Investigative Journalists (NGIJ) has inaugurated its newly elected National Executive Committee (Exco), marking a significant milestone in the organization’s history. The event, which took place on August 30, 2024, saw the newly elected leaders pledge to uphold the mission, values, and principles of the NGIJ.

New Leadership Committed to Fearless Reporting and Transparency

The newly elected NGIJ President, Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, expressed his commitment to fostering a culture of fearless reporting, holding power to account, and championing the public interest. “We are resolute in our commitment to bringing about positive change, promoting transparency, and safeguarding the freedom of the press,” he said.

Exco Members Take Oath of Allegiance and Office

The newly elected Exco members took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office, administered by Barr. Ahmed Kehinde Lambe, Principal Partner of Lambe & Co., an Abuja-based law firm and Notary Public. The members pledged to serve with integrity, transparency, and dedication, ensuring that members’ voices are heard and their interests represented.
