The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply through the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line, reconnecting the Northeast region to the national grid.

According to TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, power supply was fully restored on the Gombe-Damaturu section of the line on October 30, 2024, at 7:25 pm, while the Damaturu-Maiduguri (Molai) section was restored on October 31, 2024, at 2:01 pm.

The restoration follows the completion of repairs on Tower 372, which was vandalized on September 22, 2024. The rebuilt tower and subsequent stringing of the line were completed on October 23, 2024.

Initially, TCN faced delays in restoring power supply due to vandalism on the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line. However, with the completion of repairs, the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri transmission line is now fully operational.

TCN appealed to the public to join efforts to combat power installation vandalism, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the nation’s electricity infrastructure. The company urged citizens to report suspicious activities around transmission installations to security operatives or TCN offices nationwide.

This restoration is a significant milestone in TCN’s efforts to ensure reliable and efficient transmission of electricity across Nigeria. The Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri transmission line plays a critical role in supplying power to the Northeast region, and its restoration will alleviate electricity shortages in the area.
