Former President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, is set to commission what has been described as the North-East’s largest privately developed Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State, in a development expected to strengthen digital innovation and youth-driven enterprise in the region.

The Usman Adamu Support Group, in a statement signed by Isa Shehu, said the ICT Centre represents a strategic private-sector investment aimed at expanding access to technology, digital education and entrepreneurship opportunities for thousands of young people across Bauchi State and the wider North-East.

According to the group, the project underscores the growing role of private investment in accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation by creating an enabling environment for innovation, skills development and technology-based businesses.

It noted that the facility is designed to provide modern ICT training, digital literacy programmes and entrepreneurial support, equipping young people with practical skills required to participate in the rapidly evolving digital economy while promoting self-employment and job creation.

The group stated that beyond serving residents of Azare and Katagum, the centre is expected to become a regional technology hub, attracting aspiring innovators, students, entrepreneurs and technology enthusiasts from across the North-East.

It added that the initiative aligns with national efforts to promote economic diversification through technology, while helping to bridge the digital divide and expand opportunities in communities that have historically faced limited access to advanced ICT infrastructure.

The Usman Adamu Support Group described the project as a demonstration of how visionary private-sector initiatives can complement government policies on human capital development, innovation and inclusive economic growth.

The statement further stressed that sustainable development is driven not only by physical infrastructure but also by investments that empower people with the knowledge, digital competencies and entrepreneurial capacity needed to compete in a technology-driven global economy.

The group expressed optimism that the commissioning of the ICT Centre by Dr. Bukola Saraki would further elevate Bauchi State’s profile as an emerging destination for technology and innovation while encouraging greater investment in digital infrastructure across the North-East.

“Projects of this nature have the potential to transform lives, stimulate local economies and position the North-East as an active participant in Nigeria’s expanding digital ecosystem,” the statement said.
