The National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Hamisu Anani, has extended a warm Christmas goodwill message to Christian faithful across the country, describing the Yuletide season as a profound and unifying moment in Nigeria’s national life.
Hon. Anani, who is also the Executive Chairman of Wase Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman, Plateau State chapter, said the Christmas season holds deep spiritual significance for millions of Nigerians and reflects the enduring values of faith, love, and communal harmony that continue to shape the nation.
In his message, he recognised the central role of Christians in Nigeria’s religious and cultural landscape, noting that their “steadfast devotion, fervent prayers, and unwavering commitment to communal harmony” have remained a stabilising force in the country. He emphasised that these attributes underscore Nigeria’s diversity, which he described as “a rich heterogeneity that characterises Nigeria’s religious mosaic, where myriad denominations and traditions coalesce in a shared pursuit of peace and prosperity.”
The ALGON spokesman commended the resilience and compassion of the Christian community, particularly their long-standing contributions to national development through education, healthcare, and social services. According to him, “their collective efforts in education, health, and social outreach have fortified the nation’s social fabric and inspired countless acts of goodwill,” reinforcing the values of service and sacrifice that the Yuletide season represents.
Hon. Anani expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, stating that the spirit of unity and service exemplified by Christians will continue to drive national progress. He linked this hope to the country’s journey toward key national milestones, including “the pivotal elections in 2027 and developmental milestones of 2026,” stressing the importance of peace, understanding, and collective responsibility.
He offered prayers that the Christmas season would bring renewed hope to all Nigerians, saying he prayed that “the blessings of this joyous season illuminate every heart, foster greater understanding among all faiths, and usher in a year replete with progress, stability, and divine grace for every Nigerian.”
Concluding the message, Hon. Hamisu Anani spoke on behalf of local government chairmen in Plateau State, the 36 states, and the Federal Capital Territory. He extended goodwill to Plateau State Governor, His Excellency Caleb Mftuang, members of the State Executive Council, the Judiciary, the mass media, civil society organisations, informal sector operators, trade unions, ministries, departments and agencies, as well as women and youths.
He wished “all Christians, and indeed all citizens of goodwill, a blessed Christmas and a prosperous New Year filled with hope, peace, and abundant blessings,” reaffirming a message of unity and national progress at the heart of the Yuletide celebration.
