A senior mobile police officer, DSP Abdullahi Isah, attached to the 12 Police Mobile Force in Minna, Niger State, has died while under investigation over alleged illegal dealings in ammunition.
Sources disclosed that the officer had been arrested on December 15, 2025, following suspicions linking him to an unlawful arms transaction involving suspected bandits. He was subsequently taken to his office on December 16 for a routine arms audit as part of ongoing internal checks.
During the audit process, an incident occurred within the office that resulted in the officer’s death. Efforts by fellow officers present to save him were unsuccessful, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.
Confirming the development, the Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, said the audit was underway when the unfortunate incident happened. He added that officers assigned to accompany and supervise the audit have been placed under arrest for negligence in the line of duty.
According to the police, a full investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to address all aspects of the alleged arms dealings and procedural lapses.
