Yunusa Tanko Meets Former Minister Pantami, Reaffirms Obidient Movement’s Push for Good Governance

The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, has met with former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, in continuation of the movement’s nationwide consultations aimed at strengthening its advocacy for good governance and accountable leadership in Nigeria.

In a statement released after the visit on Sunday, Dr. Tanko explained that the engagement was part of the movement’s strategy of building bridges across different regions and constituencies of the country.

He noted that the mission and vision of the Obidient Movement, inspired by former presidential candidate Peter Obi, is centered on transparency, accountability, and responsible leadership as the foundation for building a better Nigeria.Prof Isah Pantami and Dr Yunusa Tanko

“Our visit to Professor Pantami was to share the values of the Obidient Movement and to reiterate our call for good governance. We are committed to reaching out to respected leaders and stakeholders across divides because we firmly believe that a New Nigeria is POssible,” Dr. Tanko said.

Professor Pantami, an accomplished scholar and technocrat, is known for his extensive contributions to academia and public service. With a distinguished career that spans lecturing, research, and high-level government service, he rose to prominence as the Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency before being appointed Minister of Communications and Digital Economy in 2019.

He also currently serves as a professor of Cybersecurity at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

Born in Gombe State, Pantami has earned respect nationally and internationally for his work in computing, cybersecurity, and technology management, alongside his reputation as a renowned Islamic scholar.

Dr. Tanko emphasized that the Obidient Movement would continue to seek common ground with credible voices across the nation as part of its broader campaign to mobilize citizens and demand governance that works for the people. He concluded with a reaffirmation of the movement’s optimism, stressing that, with unity and determination, the aspiration for a New Nigeria will be achieved.
