The Association of Female Comrades (AFC) commends the Nigerian judicial system, particularly the High Court sitting in Nasarawa State, for upholding justice in the gruesome murder of 24-year-old corp member, Salome Adaidu. The court, under the honorable leadership of Justice Simon Aboki, sentenced the perpetrator, Oluwatimilehin Ajayi, to death by hanging for the heinous crime.

This verdict represents a significant victory in the ongoing fight against gender-based violence and femicide in Nigeria. The AFC celebrates this ruling as a clear indication that the Nigerian judiciary can and will serve as a beacon of justice, especially for women and the vulnerable in our society.

“We commend Justice Simon Aboki for his impartiality and commitment to truth in this matter. His judgment reinforces the message that no one is above the law, and that our courts can be a safe place where the cries of victims are not silenced or ignored,” said Comrade Muniretu Isah, President of the Association of Female Comrades.

The AFC views this ruling not just as justice for Salome Adaidu and her grieving family, but also as a national statement that brutality against women will not go unchecked. It reflects the kind of system we have long advocated for a system where women feel safe, protected, and empowered to live freely.

We urge the Nigerian judiciary to continue on this path, delivering swift and fair justice in all cases, especially those involving violence against women. The AFC remains committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that no woman in Nigeria has to live in fear.

Justice must not only be done it must be seen to be done. Today, justice was truly seen.
