The Emirate Council of Fune in Yobe State has announced the forthcoming turbaning of Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, President and CEO of FUNAB Group of Companies Limited, as the Dan Amana (Custodian of Trust) of Fune Emirate.

This distinguished honour is part of the activities marking the 25th anniversary of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Dr. Saleh Ibn Uthman, on the throne as Emir of Fune.

In a statement issued Thursday by Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, Director of Communications to Alhaji Ajia, the turbaning ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Emir’s Palace in Damagum, headquarters of Fune Local Government Area.

The grand event forms part of a weekend of celebrations, including a special Jumat prayer on Friday, June 27, and the wedding of the children of Yobe State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), on the same day as the turbaning.

Alhaji Ajia’s ties to the Fune Emirate date back to his tenure as Security Aide to the late Governor of Yobe State, Senator Mamman B. Ali, when he played a critical role in maintaining strong relations between the state government and the traditional institution.

Further highlighting his dedication to national service, Ajia also served as Aide-de-Camp to the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, GCON, who himself holds the traditional title of Barde of Fune.
