The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the full restoration of electricity supply to the Northeast region following the successful integration of the newly completed Bauchi 330/132kV Transmission Substation into the national grid.

According to a press release signed by Ndidi Mbah, General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, the reconnection was achieved through the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330kV and 132kV transmission lines, which were briefly taken offline to enable the energization of the new substation—one of the largest in the region.

“Supply to the Northeast has been restored since the 19th of June at about 16:45 hours,” the statement confirmed.

The completion of this critical infrastructure project has significantly bolstered bulk power transmission to the Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies, which serve customers across Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba States.

Highlighting the broader impact of the development, TCN emphasized that the grid connection of the new substation has improved power reliability, diversified transmission pathways, and enhanced emergency response capabilities across the North Eastern region.

The company extended its appreciation to electricity consumers in the affected areas for their patience and understanding during the temporary outage necessitated by the connection process.

This development marks another milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to strengthen the national grid and improve energy delivery across Nigeria, especially in regions historically impacted by infrastructure gaps.
