In a passionate press briefing aimed at rallying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the North Central region, Hon. Stephen Abraham Ajiya, a prominent aspirant for the party’s zonal chairmanship, declared that the region had suffered decades of neglect and marginalization, and the time had come to reclaim lost grounds.

Hon. Ajiya emphasized the need for equitable representation and the reestablishment of the North Central region’s prominence within the party’s national structure. He stated, “We cannot deny the fact that for decades, the North Central region has been short-changed in terms of leadership and inclusion in decision-making at the highest levels of our party. This is not just a political matter—it is a matter of justice and fairness. It is time we stood united to reclaim our rightful place.”

The chairmanship aspirant went on to outline his vision for revitalizing the PDP, pledging to prioritize grassroots mobilization, empowerment of party members, and fostering unity across the diverse zones of the region.

“The strength of the PDP lies in its ability to represent and serve the interests of all Nigerians, irrespective of their region or background. We must demonstrate that inclusivity and equity are more than just words—they are the foundation of our party’s ideals”, he said.

Hon. Ajiya also shed light on the challenges faced by the North Central region in recent years, including infrastructure deficits, dwindling economic opportunities, and security concerns. He argued that a stronger presence within the PDP leadership would enable the region to effectively address these issues.

He said, “Our people deserve better representation. They deserve leaders who understand their struggles and are committed to working tirelessly for their progress and prosperity.”

Calling for solidarity and action, Hon. Ajiya urged party members to support his chairmanship bid, stating that it was not merely a personal ambition but a collective effort to restore pride and dignity to the region. “This is not about me; it is about all of us. It is about securing a brighter future for our children and generations to come. Together, we can rebuild trust, strengthen our party, and make the North Central region a force to be reckoned with.”

The aspirant concluded the briefing with a message of hope and resilience, urging party members to embrace the opportunity for change and growth. His words resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom expressed renewed enthusiasm for the PDP’s potential to lead the region toward a brighter future.
