The Northern Patriotic Front (NPF) has issued a strong statement opposing the planned protest scheduled for August 1st-10th across selected states in Nigeria, including the FCT.
The protest, tagged “#End bad government in Nigeria”, has been deemed misguided and ill-timed by the NPF.
According to Alhaji Ali Abacha, the Convener/Chairman of the Northern Patriotic Front, the primary reason for their opposition is the lack of transparency and accountability among the protest’s proponents.
The NPF urged citizens, especially the youth, to reject the call to protest, warning against being used as political thugs while the organizers’ own children reside safely outside the country.
The NPF acknowledged the difficulties and pains faced by Nigerians, particularly with the astronomical increase in the cost of staple foods.
However, they called on the President to urgently address this issue and work closely with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to track the distribution of palliatives to the states.
The group offered their support to the government in addressing these challenges and ensuring that palliatives reach those in need.
They emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to build a better Nigeria and urge the government to maintain constant communication with ordinary citizens to understand their needs and concerns.
By working together with CSOs, the group said, the government can gain valuable insights into the challenges faced by citizens and develop targeted solutions to address them.
The NPF urged the government to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and open communication, ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard and their needs are met.
