A Frontline energy sector stakeholder, Alhaji Muhammad Saleh Hassan, has said that President Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to suspend Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, or any government official in the administration of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari that he (Tinubu) may still decide to fire is not intended to haunt them nor paint Buhari’s administration in bad light, but to guarantee and sustain sanity and desired results in his (Tinubu) administration.

Hassan stressed that Tinubu is an experience, exposed, progressive and result-oriented politician and leader that has eyes for technocrats, think tanks and experts that are passionate about credibility, integrity and performance.

It is on this premise, he added, that the president would not want to tolerate nor manage any government official whose conducts run contrary to his principles, philosophies and ideologies but would focus on good governance that he is out to deliver to the citizenry.

“President Tinubu’s decision to suspend the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, or any government official in Buhari’s administration, whose conducts fall below his expectation, is not meant to be vindictive, haunt anybody nor to paint Buhari’s administration in bad light, but a genuine move to bring sanity, credibility, integrity and result to his administration,” Hassan noted.

He added: “That is why retaining government officials, especially the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kolo Kyari, in their positions is sacrosanct because he (Kyari) has track records of passion for excellence, performance, laudable achievements, credibility and integrity.”

Hassan who is the Chairman of Skymark Energy and Power Ltd stated this in Abuja on Sunday in a chat with newsmen.

He said that with Kyari’s proven track records of performance, achievements, excellence and integrity, which shut the NNPCL from obscurity to the current limelight through a series of reformation that he spearheaded during Buhari’s administration, indicated that he is exemplary and a pacesetter in leadership, unlike Emefele who, despite his
requisite professional skill, acumen, experience failed the nation due to poor management and wrong policies.

“The difference between people like Emefiele and people like Kyari is crystal-clear. While Kyari’s NNPCL transformation spirit is to make life better for the populace, Emefiele’s spirit was to make life difficult for them. That was the script he acted when he introduced and implemented currency swap policy that brought undue hardship to the people that they are still struggling to recover from,” Hassan said.

He added: “While Kyari spearheaded removal of fuel subsidy right from the days of Buhari and it became a reality in the days of Tinubu, a policy that will soon put smiles on the citizenry’s lips and bring life to the nation’s economy, Emefiele spearheaded currency change policy that killed the economy that is still gasping for breath,” noted.

“A media report quoted Tinubu as saying during an interactive session with Nigerians residing in France and neighbouring countries at the weekend that the financial system was rotten under Emefiele so much that many people living outside the country were unable to send money to their parents and relatives due to the multiple exchange rates,” Hassan said.

“According to the report, few people made bags of money but many people could not send money to their poor parents,” he added.

He noted that Kyari’s focus in the NNPCL had been people-oriented.

“Kyari’s administration acumen made the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) a reality. He also ensured transformation of the NNPC to NNPC Limited to maximise its potentials for optimal performance,” Hassan noted.

“He worked assiduously to halt oil theft in the Niger Delta. He also guaranteed the ongoing rehabilitation of the oil refineries in Port Harcourt, Kaduna and Warri. All these efforts are with a view to ending the era and pains of fuel scarcity in the interest of the entire citizenry, unlike Emefiele whose posturing in the CBN was in the interest of the few privileged.

The Skymark Energy and Power Ltd boss stressed that continuity of Kyari in office could not be overemphasized because his mind sent for leadership is always in the interest of the growth, progress and sustenance of the corporation as well as the wellbeing of the citizenry.
