The Executive Committee Members (EXCOs) of the Efab Sunshine Residents Association, Apo, have scheduled Friday, 9 January 2026, for a sensitisation and training workshop for teenagers and youths within the estate. The programme, titled “A Life Outside a Screen,” is designed to help young residents better understand and manage their screen time on mobile phones and television.
The workshop will be facilitated by Ms. Ta Dutse Fatiha Ahmed and is part of a broader series of orientation and re-orientation programmes initiated by the EXCOs to support residents in becoming more responsible, productive, and focused in 2026.
Speaking on the initiative, the President of the Efab Sunshine Residents Association, Hajia Habiba Ali, explained that the training forms part of several capacity-building activities aimed at helping residents plan their time effectively and become more emotionally and financially self-reliant in the new year.
According to her, “This is one in a series of trainings we, as EXCOs, have organised for residents and non-residents who may wish to benefit. In addition to the medical outreach conducted in 2025—during which residents received medical check-ups and medications—we also organised a recent training focused on mental health awareness, as well as time and resource management and optimisation.”
She further noted that the upcoming workshop is specifically targeted at children and young people in the estate as schools resume. “We want our children to have the right information that will help them optimise the use of their phones and other digital devices. The objective is to encourage them to devote more time to their studies and home assignments than to phone and television screens,” she said.
The training will also provide a platform to sensitise parents on the importance of guiding and monitoring their children’s use of phones and television in line with acceptable social norms.
Hajia Habiba Ali reaffirmed that the estate’s EXCOs and management remain committed to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to deliver programmes and resources that will enhance the overall quality of life of residents in 2026 and beyond.
