Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, on Friday, 3rd October 2025, represented the Special Guest of Honour, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the unveiling of a book and the 60th birthday celebration of the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabor (Rtd).

The colourful event, held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, featured the formal presentation of General Irabor’s new book titled “SCARS: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum.”

The ceremony attracted an array of eminent dignitaries, including former President H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, who chaired the occasion, and former President H.E. Goodluck Jonathan. Also in attendance were the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, the Chief of Defence Staff, General C.G. Musa, the Service Chiefs, as well as other serving and retired senior military officers.

The event blended intellectual reflection with celebration, as national leaders, security chiefs, and religious figures converged to honour General Irabor’s contributions to Nigeria’s military and national security, while also celebrating his milestone birthday.
