The President and Chief Executive Officer of Funab Group of Companies Ltd and the Dan Amanar of Fune Emirate in Yobe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia, has extended warm congratulations to members of Cadet Inspector Course 36/2002 and Cadet ASP Course 21/2002 of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil Kano, as they mark their 23rd anniversary.
In a goodwill message signed by his Director of Communications, Malam Abdulrahman Aliagan, and released to journalists in Abuja, Ajia praised the dedication and sacrifices of his colleagues, noting that their collective service has played a vital role in strengthening Nigeriaās security architecture, protecting citizens, and safeguarding property across the country.
Ajia described the 2002 course as a unique and blessed set within the Nigeria Police Force. He pointed out that the course has produced highly distinguished officers, including a Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police, numerous Assistant Commissioners of Police, and Chief Superintendents of Police.
According to him, the career paths of these officers are a testament to the grace and favour Almighty Allah has bestowed on the set. He emphasized that many of his colleagues now occupy sensitive positions within the Force, such as providing security and movement support for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Others currently serve as Squadron Commanders, Area Commanders, State Operations Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers across almost all divisions in the country.
The Dan Amanar Fune also underlined the global impact of his course mates, who represent Nigeria in international peacekeeping operations and foreign missions. He attributed this success to the prayers and goodwill of the late Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun, who during their training years showed them exceptional care, encouragement, and support.
While celebrating their achievements, Ajia urged his colleagues to remain steadfast in addressing Nigeriaās growing security challenges.
He stressed the need for improved intelligence sharing and more proactive policing measures, with a particular appeal to tackle the rising insecurity in his home state, Kwara. He called for the adoption of robust community policing strategies as a sustainable solution to the deepening security crisis.
āI urge my colleagues to deploy their networks of intelligence to salvage Kwara State, which is currently battling rising security threats that are generating concern and unrest among citizens. We must adopt community policing strategies to rescue Nigeria from the deepening security crisis,ā Ajia declared.Beyond his call for action, Ajia appealed to governments at all levels to prioritize the welfare of police officers and security agencies.
He stressed that motivation and improved welfare packages are central to achieving effective policing across Nigeria. He also advocated urgent reforms of the controversial Police Pension Scheme to guarantee that officers retire in dignity and peace after years of service to the nation.
The respected business leader prayed for the continued success, long life, and prosperity of his course mates. He expressed optimism that the time is drawing near when one of them will rise to the peak of police leadership as the Inspector General of Police.
āI will continue to pray for each of us, and I strongly believe it is only a matter of time before one of our colleagues emerges as IGP,ā he concluded.
