The Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption & Charitable Initiative (AHACCI) has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anti-corruption drive, praising his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance, promoting transparency, and tackling the root causes of corruption in Nigeria.

In a statement issued on Thursday, AHACCI’s Director General, Ambassador Ismaila Yusuf Atus, commended the President for what he described as “uncommon courage and clarity” in the fight against graft.

According to Atus, the Tinubu administration has backed its anti-corruption rhetoric with decisive actions, including boosting funding for anti-graft institutions and safeguarding their operational independence to shield them from political interference.

“These measures have empowered anti-corruption agencies to carry out their mandates without fear or favour,” Atus said, noting that Nigeria’s improved standing in the 2024 Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index — climbing from 145th to 140th — is a direct result of such policies.

“President Tinubu’s strategic policies and decisive actions against corruption are clearly restoring faith in our institutions. The Atum Humanitarian Anti-Corruption & Charitable Initiative (AHACCI) has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s anti-corruption drive, praising his administration’s commitment to strengthening governance, promoting transparency, and tackling the root causes of corruption in Nigeria.

The leap in TI’s rankings reflects the global community’s growing confidence in Nigeria’s governance under his leadership. This is not business as usual; we are witnessing a deliberate effort to institutionalise integrity and restore dignity to public service,” he added.

Atus further commended the administration for integrating economic reforms into its anti-corruption strategy, targeting the socio-economic triggers of graft.

He cited the student loan programme, the national credit guarantee system, the recent increase in the minimum wage, affordable housing schemes for civil servants, and easier access to credit for entrepreneurs as initiatives that promote the dignity of labour and reduce economic desperation.

“When citizens can meet their basic needs through legitimate means, the temptation to cut corners is drastically reduced,” he said. “By addressing poverty, inequality, and institutional weakness, the President is attacking the roots of corruption. That is forward-thinking leadership.”

The AHACCI chief also welcomed ongoing reforms in the justice sector, particularly the fast-tracking of corruption case prosecutions. He stressed that both speed and fairness in legal processes are critical to restoring public trust in governance.

“President Tinubu is showing that it is possible to combine economic reforms with ethical governance,” Atus stated. “This balanced approach is exactly what Nigeria needs, and the results are already becoming visible.”

Calling for a united front against corruption, Atus urged civil society organisations, traditional rulers, the media, and young Nigerians to join forces with the government in sustaining the current momentum.

“The President has laid a strong foundation. It is now up to every patriotic Nigerian to play their part, from the grassroots to the highest levels of leadership. That is how we will build a just and prosperous nation,” he said.

Highlighting AHACCI’s mission, Atus explained that the organisation was founded on the belief that sustainable development cannot be achieved without ethical leadership and good governance.

“At AHACCI, we use education, advocacy, and strategic partnerships to dismantle systemic barriers caused by corruption, injustice, and socio-economic inequality. Our vision is a Nigeria where fairness, justice, and opportunity are accessible to all, inspiring a new era of civic responsibility and national pride,” he concluded.
