ALGON National President Lauds Ebonyi State’s Exemplary Local Government Elections

In a resounding endorsement of democratic principles, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has commended the recent local government elections in Ebonyi State, hailing the victory of newly elected chairmen, including its Deputy National President, Hon. Moses Nomeh.

ALGON National President, Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, praised the democratic process, describing it as a sacred trust aimed at unlocking the full potentials for grassroots development.

He lauded the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for his exemplary conduct and commitment to ensuring that local governments are truly representative of the people.

Maifata’s commendation comes on the heels of a seamless electoral process conducted by the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), which ensured the emergence of credible candidates.

The association is embarking on a massive campaign and awareness drive to encourage its members to deliver on their mandates, emphasizing the need for maximum productivity in local government administration.

Maifata expressed confidence in the ability of local government chairmen to deliver on their mandates, highlighting key functions such as security, primary healthcare, universal basic education, infrastructure, and other responsibilities as enunciated in the 1999 Constitution.
