IGP Egbetokun Enhances Security for Eid Celebrations, Emergency Contact Details Released

As the nation prepares for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a statement assuring the public of heightened security measures.

“The Nigeria Police Force’s sustained efforts in tackling crimes and enhancing public safety and security across the country,” said IGP Egbetokun, as he directed an increased deployment of police personnel and resources in a statement signed by the Force spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The IGP issued a clear directive to Commissioners of Police and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to “strategically configure the security architecture in their Areas of Responsibility for robust and responsive policing.”

The directive includes confidence-building patrols in various areas, from highways to places of worship, ensuring that they are “conducted professionally, without harassment or extortion.”

In his message to the Muslim Umma, IGP Egbetokun extends “warmest wishes for a Happy, Peaceful Sallah,” while committing to “ensuring that everyone celebrates in a safe and secure environment.”

The police force said it plans to utilize all available assets and collaborate with relevant groups to stabilize security within the nation.

Citizens were reminded to adhere to security advisories and traffic regulations during the celebrations. The IGP urges vigilance and reporting any suspicious activities through provided police contact points.

The Nigeria Police Force expressed its desire for a peaceful celebration, with the force spokesperson stating, “The IGP wishes all Muslims a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration.”
