Kogi State is set to witness a major transformation as Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo greenlights the refurbishment of eight pivotal roads throughout the region. This initiative is part of the governor’s pledge to enhance the state’s infrastructure and connectivity, reflecting his administration’s dedication to progress and development.
In preparation for this ambitious project, Governor Ododo has ordered a full-scale upgrade of the equipment at the State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA).
The agency’s Managing Director, Engr. Yunusa Alhassan, along with the heads of Civil and Mechanical divisions, Engr. Bolaji Steven and Engr. Joel Ocheni respectively, have successfully overhauled the necessary machinery.
The overhauled equipment is set to be dispatched to the designated sites right after the Sallah holiday.
The roads targeted for this overhaul are distributed across various Local Government Areas, ensuring a broad impact on the state’s infrastructure. The roads include:
- Egbe Township Road – Yagba West LGA
- Idah Township Road – Idah LGA
- Abejukolo Township Road – Omala LGA
- Aiyetoro Township Road – Ijumu LGA
- Felele-Agbaja Road – Lokoja LGA
- Oguma Township Road – Bassa LGA
- Anyigba Township Road – Dekina LGA
- Mopa Township Road – Mopamuro LGA
The governor’s proactive approach to infrastructural enhancement has been evident in his previous undertakings, such as the inspection of the Obangede – Okaito – Ihima road and the engagement of local artisans in the execution of projects.
Moreover, the state’s commitment to improving public health is demonstrated by the allocation of funds for the refurbishment of 70 primary health centers.
This comprehensive road rehabilitation scheme promises to elevate living standards, stimulate commerce, and foster the overall advancement of Kogi State.
It stands as a testament to Governor Ododo’s strategic use of the state’s resources, including its oil-producing status, to propel socio-economic prosperity.
