The candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Asa/Ilorin-West Federal Constituency in the forthcoming General elections, retired superintendant of Police Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia has joined well meaning Nigerians to commiserate with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, fdc, Force Management team, and Officers of the Nigeria Police Force over the death of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 5, Benin, Edo State, Mr. Lawal Tanko Jimeta.
In a statement Ajia issued on Wednesday personally signed and made available to Journalists in Ilorin the Kwara State capital. It stated that, “It came to me as a rude shock when I heard about the death of AIG Lawal Tanko Jimeta.
“Without any doubt, this is a great loss to the entire Nigeria Police Force, his family, the good people of Adamawa as well as Nigerians in general.”
In the statement, Ajia described the late AIG Jimeita as one of the finest Police Officers Nigeria has produced. Jimeta, a Poet, was known for his bravery, dedication and patriotism who made his mark in the Force and made Nigeria proud at home and abroad, adding that the vacuum created by his death cannot be filled in a short time. He will surely be missed but remembered for his good and humility all the time.”
“For his meritorious 34 years in the service of the Force, he was nothing but an exceptional Officer, who worked with dedication and courage as a result, he had set a good record for other officers to follow.
“Jimeta played a significant role in the Police Service. On this note, I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy with the IGP, the Force, his family and Nigerians.
“At this hour of grief, I request you to please accept my sincere condolences and pass the same to the family of the deceased.
“I therefore prayed to Allah to grant him eternal rest, accept his returns, forgive his shortcomings and give the family he left behind, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. It concluded.
