Muhammad Auwal Ibrahim, a multiple award-winning journalist, fellow AIJC 2020 and a correspondent with Abuja Business Reports has been announced as the First runner up of ICIR Investigative Journalism Award 2021.
Auwal was announced as the winner during UCJ UI Dinner and Awards Night on October 23, 2021 at the Abdulsalami Abubakar Hall, PG School, University of Ibadan.
Recall that we earlier reported to you that he was shortlisted along with four others from Usman Danfodio University Sokoto and University of Ibadan.
The multiple award-winning journalist’s timely two part entries on ICTs and Telecommunications published by Edutorial won it again for the third time in a year.
The overall winner is Abiodun Jamiu while the second runner up is Abdulrasheed Hammad. Others with honourable mentions are Tobi Odeyinka and Abdulwaheed SofiulLahi.
Reacting to winning the award he said “I am so happy to learn this development. This is the third time I am winning an award this year: two national and one international. The only sad thing is that I was not there to receive any by myself. I want to thank Mr Kabir Tijjani for standing in for me.”
“The most interesting thing is that all of these awards I received, I got them as a result of only one story. The two part series was rejected or not published by various leading media organisations in Nigeria.”
“I don’t know what the judges consider in grading. Whatsoever, Glory be to Almighty Allah.”
