Zobe Water Works For Commissioning

The Zobe Water works will soon be ready for commissioning by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

A statement signed by Ibrahim Musa Kallah, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor noted that this revelation came following a visit by the Katsina State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Munnir Yakubu to the Minister of Water Resources Sulaiman Adamu in his office at Abuja.

It could be recalled that recently President Muhammadu Buhari approved the release of the sum of over N20 billion for the completion of the Zobe Water Project in Kasina State.

The Project which is now completed by the Federal Government, and ready for commissioning, will be of great benefit to the people of Katsina in particular and the Nation in general.

Speaking during the visit, the State Deputy Governor Alhaji Munnir Yakubu expressed gratitude to the Ministry and President Muhammadu Buhari for completing the Project.

Alhaji Munnir Yakubu maintained that people of Dutsinma in particular and the State in general are benefiting immensely from the Project for about nine month after it was handed over to the State.

The Deputy Governor spoke on the effort being made by the Governor Aminu Masari-led administration towards renovating the three major reservoirs and pipes networking for the distribution of water in the State.

Alhaji Munnir Yakubu also noted with delight that other projects executed in the state by the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration through the Ministry of Water Resources include that of Mashi and Dutsi water scheme for the people in the area as well as conversion of power system of Sabke water works from diesel to solar.

Responding, the Minister of Water Resources Engineer Suleiman Adamu said the Zobe Project was the first out of the abandoned water project completed by the Buhari’s administration.

Engineer Suleiman Adamu noted that the Federal Ministry of Water Resources is looking forward for the confirmation of date for the commissioning of project from the Presidency.

While assuring of the Federal government’s commitement towards redesigning the Zobe irrigation system into drift irrigation, the Minister called on the benefiting communities to appreciate Government effort through proper utilization of the project.

Engineer Suleiman Adamu also assured the Deputy Governor that the Federal Ministry of Water Resources will look into the conversion of the electricity at Jibia Dam into solar for effective service delivery.
