Promoting self reliance with dignity,is the sum total of the Gallant Women Ability Foundation G-WÀF as the Founder/President Olaide Awosedo visits the Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa in Abuja.
Olaide who is a Retail Banker in the United Kingdom said drawing from her experience of a car accident in Nigeria in 1998 and flown to the United Kingdom for treatment , was inspired to form the Gallant Women Ability Foundation G- WAF a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) saddled with the responsibility of caring for the physically challenged women and children, and promoting independent living and self reliance.
Olaide Awosedo mantains that there is near absence of infrastructure facilities in place in Nigeria for the physically challenged hence her passion to launch the Gallant Women Ability Foundation later in the month and hopes to work with NIDCOM and other stakeholders in attaining a state of equity and rights of women and children with disabilities.
The NIDCOM Boss Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa was pleased with the initiative, and commended her efforts in giving back to society as a good Diaspora Ambassador.
Hon Dabiri-Erewa stressed the need for others to emulate Olaide and promised to liaise with other government agencies particularly National Commission for persons with Disabilities and the Ministry of Women Affairs to promote the good course.
G-WAF was founded in 2018 mainly to promote, protect and ensure the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all women with disability, less privileged children and the elderly.
